4 Guild Streets: Silk, Silver and Festival Crafts
▶The film for this experience is in production. This is our illustration of its streets. Why I created this one
The guild streets are the reason this channel exists. Every street here was one craft, and on weekday mornings you can still hear and see the work happening. I designed this route for travellers who collect skills and stories, not just photos.
Watch the guild streets work: silk measured on Hang Gai, silver weighed on Hang Bac, lantern colour on Hang Ma. A walk for people who love how things are made, with time to buy directly from the makers.

Suzy lives and works in Hanoi and designs every route on this site from the streets she films. She joins your day when her schedule allows; a licensed guide leads every tour, and Bao Son Travel sells and operates it.
More about SuzyThis experience is for you if…
- You love watching skilled people make real things
- You would rather buy from the maker than from a mall
- You want to tell real silk and real silver from the copies
- You enjoy slow mornings and working streets more than big sights
Make it yours
This route is a starting point, not a script. Mention any of these in the planner notes and we will shape the day around you:
A sample day, hour by hour
This is a sample plan, not a promise: your guide adjusts the order and the stops to the day, the weather and your appetite.
Lanterns and festival decor while the street is calm and the light is kind.
Tiny hammers, real silver, and how to tell craft from casting.
A slow egg coffee, and the story of the family that invented it.
Feel real silk against the copies, and learn the burn test before you buy.
Bedding, tailoring and one last look at the quarter waking up.
Where we meet
The main gate of Dong Xuan Market, on Dong Xuan street
Stand under the big Dong Xuan Market sign at the wide main gate. Your guide holds the Old Quarter Review card by the gate, not inside the market lanes.
The exact address and a photo of the meeting spot come with your written quote from Bao Son Travel, so nobody hunts for a bare street number in the Old Quarter.
Honest answers, including the limits
Never. Browsing is half the pleasure of these streets, buying is always your choice, and prices are each shop's own. Your guide will happily carry on walking.
Most of this route runs under shop awnings, so light rain is fine. If weather makes walking unsafe, Bao Son Travel rearranges the date with you in writing before the day.
The route is flat and the pace is browsing pace, with a seated coffee pause in the middle. Tell us about mobility needs in your inquiry and the guide will plan extra rests.
