Hanoi in miniature

The whole Old Quarter on one table, like a model city: one living painting, one winding road, eight areas and the 49 guild streets inside them. Walk the miniature here first, then walk the real streets with the plan in your pocket.

The Lake and the South Gate

Hoan Kiem Lake, the Cathedral and sunset walks

Every first trip to Hanoi starts here. Hoan Kiem Lake is the compass of the Old Quarter, and the streets around its southern edge hold the postcard views: the Turtle Tower at golden hour, the red bridge to Ngoc Son Temple, the water puppet theatre and the French era facades of Trang Tien. Come at dawn to share the lake shore with tai chi groups, or at sunset when the whole city seems to slow down for one lap around the water.

Walk this area

Every scene on this road is an illustration drawn for this channel. The filmed stories of each area arrive with the channel's first season.

The eight areas in miniature

Every area is a real photograph, shrunk to model size with a tilt-shift lens effect: the lake, a silk loom, the night market, the old city gate, Hang Ma, Ta Hien, the medicine shops and the train street. Credits for every photograph are in the footer.
